Christoph’s Story: MMA, Concussions, and a Conversation That Inspired Him to Speak
Share
When Christoph Fluke met Rob and Heather Robbins, a question about Rob’s CTE shirt opened a conversation about brain injury. Afterward, Christoph made a video to share his own experience and introduce his audience to Robbins Nest Alliance.
MMA and the decision to step away
Christoph describes mixed martial arts as an important part of his life and of becoming the person he is today. He also shares that he has experienced repeated concussions, beginning when he was young.
In his video, he explains that this history led him to retire from MMA. Continuing felt like pushing his luck. He speaks about what the sport gave him, while acknowledging why he chose to step away.
A conversation that became a connection
Christoph says seeing “CTE” on Rob’s shirt prompted him to ask what it meant. Meeting Rob and Heather encouraged him to make this video, thank them for their work, and help more people find Robbins Nest Alliance.
He also talks about his interest in philosophy and his desire to help others. That desire is part of what he brings to this conversation: his experience, his perspective, and a willingness to speak.
